LHC Heavy Duty Cross Flow Cooling Tower

Induced draft, heavy duty, low-noise rectangular cross flow cooling tower designed to international standards. High heat transfer efficiency with low energy use and low maintenance.

Overview

The LHC Series is NKR’s heavy duty cross flow cooling tower, part of our industrial type range for plants with large cooling loads. It is an induced draft, rectangular tower designed to international standards. A large wetted surface spreads water evenly for strong cooling performance, while large, slow-turning fans keep energy use and noise low.

Description

How it works

In a cross flow tower, air moves horizontally across the water as it falls through the fill. Hot water is spread over the fill, air is drawn through it by fans (induced draft), and a small portion of the water evaporates, carrying heat away. The cooled water collects in the basin and returns to your system. The open layout gives easy access to the distribution system for inspection and maintenance.

Key features

  • Induced draft, heavy duty, rectangular cross flow design
  • Designed according to international standards
  • Low maintenance
  • High performance from a large wetted surface and uniform water distribution
  • High heat transfer efficiency
  • Maximizes cooling performance while keeping energy consumption low
  • Large fans run at low speed to minimize noise pollution
  • Prevents objects from entering the water basin

Technical specifications

The brochure gives no capacity table for the LHC. [Client to supply: capacity range (m³/h or tons), cell sizes, fan power, materials of construction, temperature range.] Until then, use the line: “Capacities and configurations are engineered to your load. Request a quote with your flow rate and temperatures.”

Applications

Cement · Steel · Power generation · Large process plants [general wording, not from the brochure: client to confirm]

How it compares

LDC Heavy Duty Counter Flow LHC Heavy Duty Cross Flow
Airflow Vertical, against the falling water Horizontal, across the falling water
Standout points Greatest heat rejection, large wetted surface Low noise, low maintenance, large wetted surface
Best for Maximum cooling capacity Quiet, low-maintenance heavy duty cooling

FAQs

LHC or LDC: which should I choose? Both are heavy duty towers for large loads. The LDC is counter flow and is built for maximum heat rejection. The LHC is cross flow, with low noise and low maintenance as its strengths. Our engineers will recommend one based on your load, site and noise limits.

What information do you need to size a tower? Water flow rate, hot (inlet) and cold (outlet) water temperatures, and the wet bulb temperature at your site.

Do you install the tower? [Client to confirm: supply only, or supply, installation and commissioning.]
